The Journey is a project based on the concept of "Architecture for Inclusion". It is fueled by the aspiration to redefine educational spaces. The client's request was clear: to create an inclusive kindergarten catering to children aged 1 to 6, where both able-bodied and disabled children could thrive together.

Architect Farah Saab, alongside Interior Designer Mara Bragagnolo, Architect Jasmine Hodghson, and Engineer Architect Marilisa Lopomo, envisioned more than just a school; they proposed the establishment of a caregiving foundation. The guiding philosophy was to prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring every element of the design welcomed and embraced children of all abilities. The aim was to foster an environment that goes beyond physical structures, instilling a sense of belonging for every child involved.

The project was designed in partnership with YACademy, as part of the "Architecture for Inclusion" course led by Architect Raul Pantaleo from TAMassociati.

At the heart of The Journey lies a commitment to Design Beyond Vision. We went beyond traditional boundaries of education, aspiring to build a community that cares for each other. Our design process wasn't limited to structures; it was about cultivating belonging and support. The Journey became more than a school; it was a resourceful foundation for a caregiving community.

In crafting The Journey, we adhered to Design Guidelines that place Inclusivity in Charge. Seamlessly integrating into the urban fabric, we utilized flat accessible terrains and flow with the natural contours of the hill. Our design philosophy embraced the site's inherent characteristics, creating a communal space that functioned as a transformative hub for collective growth, understanding, and inclusivity—a beacon of innovation in educational architecture.
